Safer swaps for baby: Part 2
Here are my clean swaps for safer baby/kid products. Our kids’ bodies are under much more environmental stress than ever before. There are some things you can control, and other’s you cannot. It took me a few years to fully switch over (and that’s fine, and better for your budget and full family buy in!), but I’m trying to do better now that I know better. Here are suggestions for where to swart your safer swaps!
Kid/Baby Food Pouches - meat and veg: Serenity Kids (if you shop through the website directly, use my code TWT15 for 15% off)
Kid/Baby Food - fruit: Once Upon a Farm ; we especially love the Magic Velvet Mango flavor around this house!
Organic Baby Formula: European; Choice 1: Lebenswert Bio, Choice 2: Holle - organic/biodynamic, grass fed and finished formula. A good American alternative is Happy Baby Organic.
Baby Bottle and Pump Parts Soap:Attitude ; I’ve also used this version with colloidal oatmeal occasionally as well
Kids Body Wash, Shampoo: Beautycounter
Baby Lotion: Attitude or the fragrance free option here

Baby Diaper Cream: Beautycounter - I’m obsessed with this diaper cream. And we have tried many!!
Baby Diapers: After many many trials, we have settled on a DYPER subscription. We use Pampers Pure as an easily available (stores, amazon) safer alternative as well.
Baby Wipes: Water Wipes
Probiotic: BioGaia Infantis drops for a non-refrigerated option; discuss with your doctor if this is right for your baby
Home Cleaning Products: Branch Basics (LOVE this brand and our cleaning team, who works in our whole apartment complex, said it's the MOST effective "green" cleaning product set they've ever used!) I spent 6 hours deep cleaning my house the other day with only these products and it was actually an energizing experience! $10 off here OR they do a trial sample size if you want to test it out. I’ve also been eyeing Force of Nature.
Whole Family Hand Soap: Attitude or Beautycounter
Baby/Whole Family Laundry: Attitude is for babies, but I use it for everyone’s laundry; we use wool balls with a safety pin in them for a “dryer sheet” alternative. They have fabric softener and stain remover (fragrance free option here) as well, but we aren’t that fancy, haha!
Dishwasher pods: Attitude ; baby dishes go in too, so we use this for the whole family
Organic Kid/Family Pajamas: Burts Bees ($15 off if you click that link) or Hanna Andersson(these two specifically have fun prints; there are several organic cotton pajama brands if you’re not addicted to fun prints like I am)
Muslin Swaddles: Malabar Baby - obsessed with this brand, especially their elephant, poppy, avocado & carrot prints - we use muslin swaddles for everything BUT swaddling (well we did try doing the DUDU wrap method of swaddling, but found other velcro brands faster) like stroller cover, sun shield in the car, burp cloth, peek-a-boo game item…the list goes on as she gets older!
Bibs: Green Sprouts muslin bibs or Bapron
Washcloths/Burp Cloths: save or save and splurge - we have about 50-60 of these (no joke) and use them for face wiping, hand wiping, butt drying, hair drying, bathing, nose wiping etc etc. So we use fewer chemical filled wipe and tissues and all that.
Baby Bath Towels: Burts Bees and Malabar Baby bamboo towels (SO SOFT!)
Mattress (flame retardant free): Naturepedic - we have an infant to toddler mattress that you can flip from one side to the other for longer use over time as baby gets older
Mom and Dad: My partner and I use Beautycounter hand cream, body wash, shave and beard products, etc. since our little one is always touching our hands and faces!
